UPDATED: Two dead, two injured in fatal Mead Valley shooting

MEAD VALLEY – The four victim’s from this morning’s fatal incident in the 21000 block of Rider Street in Mead Valley – two of whom were pronounced dead at the scene – were victims of a shooting, Riverside Sheriff’s Sergeant Wallace Clear explained in a press release. The manner in which the victims were injured had not been previously released.
The shootings happened Friday, August 5, at about 12:17 a.m., according to Clear.
In the press release, Clear also addressed speculation that the shootings might have been related to a triple homicide that occurred three days earlier on Aug. 2 in Lake Elsinore, writing, “This incident is not believed to be related to any other recent homicides in the Perris and Lake Elsinore area.”
Deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Perris Station responded the residence after someone called 911 to report the shooting.
“Deputies arrived within minutes and found four adults who suffered gunshot wounds. Two of the victims were transported to an area hospital and are undergoing treatment for their injuries,” Clear wrote. “The remaining two were declared deceased at the scene.”

MEAD VALLEY – Very few details have been released, but two people were killed and two others were injured during a violent incident in the unincorporated community of Mead Valley Friday, Aug. 5, according to Riverside County sheriff’s officials. The fatal incident occurred in the 21600 block of Rider Street.
Some news agencies are reporting the four victims were shot. However, as of 11 a.m., that had not yet been confirmed by the sheriff’s department.
The deaths and injuries in Mead Valley follow just three days after a triple homicide that occurred in Lake Elsinore. The two areas are less than 15 miles apart and are both located along Highway 74.
Deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Perris Station responded to the residence just after midnight after Riverside County emergency dispatchers received a 911 call reporting an assault with a deadly weapon at the location.
When they arrived, deputies found four victims suffering from traumatic, but unspecified injuries. It has not yet been released how the victims were injured.
Firefighters and paramedics responded to the scene to provide medical assistance to the victims. Two of the four victims succumbed to their injuries at the scene and were pronounced dead by paramedics. Their identities have not been released pending notification of their families.
Paramedics transported the other two victims to a local area hospital. No further information regarding the status of the two hospitalized victims has been released.
Investigators from the Perris Station and the department’s Central Homicide Unit have responded to the scene and assumed the investigation.
No information or details about the suspect or exactly how the victims were injured have been provided yet by the department and the motive for the deadly incident remains under investigation.
As of 11 a.m., Riverside County Sheriff’s Public Information Officer Michael Vasquez could not confirm how the victims were injured, citing the active and ongoing investigation. More information is expected to be released by the department soon.
