Wildomar resident found dead inside his vehicle at hospital

MURRIETA – Murrieta Police officers found an elderly male dead inside his vehicle in the Loma Linda University Medical Center-Murrieta parking lot Tuesday, Aug. 2. The hospital is located at 28062 Baxter Road in Murrieta.

Officials have stated they believed the man had possibly driven himself to the hospital for a pre-existing health condition but only made it as far as the hospital’s parking lot.

A person walking past the man’s vehicle saw him and called 911 to request Murrieta Police officials to conduct a welfare check on the man. Responding officers confirmed the man had died inside his vehicle.

The man, who is believed to be in his 70’s, has been identified by coroner’s officials as a Wildomar resident. However, they are withholding his identification pending verification of his identity and notification of his family.

Although the coroner’s office listed the man’s time of death was listed as 3:41 p.m., the time when officials first found him and confirmed he was deceased, it is believed his body had been inside the car for several days.

No foul play is suspected and the incident is being investigated as “a non-criminal death case,” according to Murrieta Police Lt. Tony Conrad.
