Hemet officer arrests man with felony warrant and loaded handgun
HEMET – A Hemet Police officer arrested a local probationer with an active felony warrant Monday, August 22. During a subsequent search, the officer discovered the man was in possession of a stolen and fully loaded handgun.
The arrest occurred at about 3:40 a.m. when the officer observed Boh Underwood, 31, of Hemet walking in the area of San Jacinto Street and Whittier Avenue in Hemet. The officer immediately recognized Underwood as being wanted for a felony warrant for vehicle theft and arrested him without incident.
During a subsequent search, the officer discovered Underwood was in possession of a loaded, 9mm semi-automatic handgun with an illegal, high capacity magazine.
The officer conducted a record check that revealed the gun had been reported stolen 9 days earlier by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Rancho Cucamonga Station. The officer also learned Underwood is on Mandatory Supervision for vehicle theft.
Based on his warrants and possession of the stolen handgun, the officer arrested Underwood and he was transported to the Southwest Detention Center in Murrieta.
A jail record search revealed Underwood was booked for five felony charges, including suspicion of being a felon in possession of a firearm, prohibited person in possession of ammunition, possession of a large capacity magazine, and stolen property. He was also booked for his warrant for a prior vehicle theft.
Underwood is being held on $100,000 bail and is scheduled to be seen in court at the Southwest Justice Center in Murrieta Aug. 24.
