HEMET – A local resident was arrested Tuesday evening Aug. 23 after he led Hemet Police officers on a high-speed pursuit on a motorcycle.
At the end of the pursuit, officers arrested David Michael McVade, 25 of Hemet. He was later booked into the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning.
At about 5:30 p.m. a Hemet Police officer who was working part of a grant funded motorcycle safety operation saw a motorcycle rider commit a vehicle code violation in the 200 block of S. Buena Vista Street.
Based on the observed violation, the officer attempted to conduct a traffic enforcement stop of the motorcyclist. The rider, who was later identified as McVade, refused to yield and accelerated away at a high rate of speed.
The officer initiated a pursuit and McVade led him on a chase through several neighborhoods until they reached the 1900 block of Mayflower Place. McVade eventually pulled into a parking area and surrendered to the pursuing officers.
Officers learned McVade fled from officers because he did not have a valid license.
A jail record search revealed McVade was booked on suspicion of felony evasion and driving on a suspended license. He is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail..
