The coroner’s office has identified Lisa Cherry, 57, of Hemet as the victim who died yesterday Aug. 29 when she was struck by three vehicles. Officials listed her tie of injury as 5:41 a.m. Her time of death was listed as 5:50 a.m. The exact location of Cherry’s death was listed as N. Sanderson Avenue, one mile north of Cottonwood Avenue in San Jacinto

SAN JACINTO – A woman was hit by a car while crossing the street on Sanderson Avenue north of Cottonwood Avenue in San Jacinto Aug. 29. After being hit by the first car, the woman was run over by two more vehicles, according to Riverside Sheriff’s Sergeant Himmelberg.
Deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s San Jacinto Police Station and other emergency first responders rushed to the reported accident at 5:41 a.m., Deputies arrived within minutes of the first 911 call.
The pedestrian succumbed to her injuries and she was pronounced deceased at the scene. The victim’s identity is being withheld pending notification of her family.
Deputies conducted a thorough accident investigation that determined the pedestrian was crossing the street outside of an established cross walk when she was struck by a vehicle traveling northbound on Sanderson Avenue.
The deputies’ investigation also revealed after the first vehicle struck the victim, the driver immediately stopped to help the victim. However, before the driver could do anything to help, the downed pedestrian was struck by two additional vehicles that were also traveling northbound on Sanderson Avenue.
“One of two of the vehicles stopped to render aid, but one left the scene without stopping,” according to Himmelberg.
The northbound lanes of Sanderson Avenue were closed for several hours while deputies investigated the deadly accident.
The San Jacinto Police Department has requested anyone having additional information regarding this incident, including the vehicle that left the scene or the driver’s identity to contact Deputy Cortez at (951) 654-2702. Callers can remain anonymous.
