PERRIS – A man was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence in the 500 block of Dale Street near Redlands Boulevard in Perris Tuesday, Sept. 20. He was arrested after a sedan he was driving struck at least two parked vehicles.
After hitting the parked vehicles, the man’s car rolled over onto its roof, trapping him inside the vehicle.
Cal Fire/Riverside County firefighters and AMR personnel responded to the reported rollover traffic collision just after 11 p.m., according to a Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department activity log.
Firefighters arrived and located a 2008 Toyota sedan that had rolled over onto its roof after smashing into two parked vehicles. The Toyota came to rest blocking Dale Street and part of Redlands Boulevard. Upon arrival, firefighters found the driver was still trapped inside the vehicle.
Firefighters were able to safely and quickly extricate the victim from the rolled vehicle.
Based on their observations, firefighters believed the driver appeared to be under the influence of an unspecified intoxicant. They then requested Riverside County sheriff’s deputies to respond to the location.
Deputies from the Riverside Sheriff’s Perris Police Station arrived and conducted a series of standardized field sobriety tests on the driver, after which they arrested the driver for suspicion of driving while under the influence.
The cause of the collision is still under investigation. The driver appeared to have not suffered any injuries; however, he was taken to a local hospital to be evaluated and cleared for booking into county jail.
No other details or information were immediately available.
