HEMET – A victim was shot in the area of N. Hamilton and Rosalia Avenues Sunday, Nov. 20.
The victim, who has not been identified, was shot by unknown suspect(s) in the roadway on Hamilton Avenue just north of the intersection of Rosalia Avenue.
Hemet police officers and other emergency first responders rushed to the area after City of Hemet emergency dispatchers received the several calls at 10:01 p.m., from citizens reporting the shooting. The callers told dispatchers there was a victim down in the roadway who had been shot and was non-responsive.
The first responding officer arrived less than one minute after the call was dispatched. He was flagged down by a crowd of witnesses and bystanders who heard the shot(s) fired and were crowded around the victim. Witnesses reported hearing a vehicle speed off after the shooting occurred.
Officers immediately began CPR on the victim who had no pulse and was not breathing.
Paramedics later took over CPR and began treating the gunshot victim in the pouring rain, while other officers quickly cordoned off the area and began to search for the suspect vehicle.
AMR medics transported the person to a local hospital, with City of Hemet firefighter/paramedics on board the ambulance still performing CPR. The current status of the victim is not known at this time.
Hemet police detectives and forensic technicians have been called to the scene to assume the investigation.
This is an active and ongoing investigation.
