HEMET: One transported to hospital after 3-vehicle wreck
HEMET – Several people sustained minor injuries and one victim was transported to an area hospital after a three-vehicle traffic collision Sunday, Dec. 8.
The minor-injury accident happened at the main entrance to the Page Plaza/Walmart shopping center off Sanderson Avenue south of Stetson Avenue in Hemet.
City of Hemet Fire and Police Departments responded to the scene of the accident shortly about 4 p.m., after several witnesses called 911 to report the accident.
A Hemet police officer arrived at the scene of the accident about 30 seconds after the call was dispatched. Firefighters began arriving minutes later. AMR medics and Hemet police volunteers also responded to the accident.
First arriving fire officials requested a second engine company to the scene based on the damage to the vehicles and the potential number of injured victims.
The three vehicles were described as a black PT Cruiser, a maroon Hyundai Santa Fe, and a silver Chevrolet pickup truck.
The PT Cruiser sustained major damage in the accident, that appeared to have happened inside the intersection of the main entrance to the Page plaza. After the initial collision, a Chevrolet pickup truck lost control and crashed into a bus stop bench and trash bin.
Nobody was at the bus stop at the time of the accident.
Firefighter/paramedics and AMR medics evaluated and treated several victims at the scene whose injuries primarily consisted of complaints of pain.
AMR medics transported one female adult to Hemet Valley Hospital for further evaluation and treatment. The exact nature or full extent of the victim’s injuries were not known; however, they were reported to be minor.
The main entrance to Page Plaza was temporarily closed while officials treated the injured and worked to remove the damaged vehicles from the roadway.
The entrance was re-opened once the damaged vehicles were towed from the scene and emergency first responders had cleared the area.
