RIVERSIDE: Woman arrested after allegedly stealing friend’s car
RIVERSIDE – Authorities arrested a woman who allegedly stole a friend’s car Tuesday, Jan. 10. The vehicle was stolen from a home in the 3700 block of Cedar Street in Riverside.
Officers responded to the residence about 10:30 p.m., after receiving a 911 call reporting the theft of a vehicle from the location.
During their investigation, officers learned that while the victim was taking a shower, a visiting friend took the keys to the man’s car and left the location.
The victim told officers the friend did not have permission to use the vehicle, and he believed the suspect, who was identified as Anna Lydia Perez, 45, of San Bernardino, was staying at a motel on West W. Foothill Boulevard in San Bernardino.
Riverside police officers contacted the San Bernardino Police Department and requested officers to check the motel. Authorities subsequently located the car and the suspect at the motel.
Riverside police officers responded to the motel and the victim positively identified Perez as the person who had stolen his car.
Officers arrested Perez and booked her into the Robert Presley Detention Center for grand theft auto and possession of a stolen vehicle, according to a release from the department.
An online jail records search revealed Perez was being held in lieu of $10,000. She is scheduled to be arraigned at the Riverside Hall of Justice Jan 13.
