After an investigation, sheriff’s officials arrested Gilberto Marquez, 48, of Temecula. He was booked into the Southwest Justice Center on suspicion of indecent exposure, Riverside Sheriff’s Sergeant Steve Fredericks explained in a written press release after the incident and arrest.

The investigation began shortly after 8 a.m., Wednesday morning, when deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Temecula Police Station responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle.

“Witnesses observed a Hispanic male adult sitting in a parked, white, Honda station wagon,” Fredericks explained. “(Marquez) appeared to be committing a lewd act.”

Although the vehicle left the area before they arrived, deputies converged on the area and began to search for the vehicle described by the victims and witnesses.

They eventually located Marquez sitting inside his car at a nearby business. Officials detained him without incident.

During a subsequent investigation, deputies “determined Marquez had been parked near the bus stop while committing a lewd act,” said Fredericks.

An online jail records search revealed Marquez within hours of his arrest after posting $10,000 bail. He is scheduled to be arraigned at the Southwest Justice Center in Murrieta June 28.

Anyone with information about this incident, or who believe they may have been victimized by Marquez is encouraged to contact Detective Miller at (951) 696-3000. Callers can refer to incident file number TE171230045 and can remain anonymous.
