JURUPA VALLEY: Fontana man dies after falling from moving vehicle
JURUPA VALLEY – Officials are investigating after a man died when he reportedly fell from a moving vehicle Saturday, May 13. The fatal, early-morning accident happened on the 2800 block of Armstrong Road south of Sierra Avenue, east of the Oak Quarry Golf Club and north of the 60 Freeway, in Jurupa Valley.
The victim was later identified as Julian Ibarra, 22, of Fontana. According to coroner’s officials Ibarra died at the scene of the fall. He was pronounced dead at 4:05 a.m.
Deputies from the Jurupa Valley Police Department and other emergency first responders were dispatched to the scene of the accident about 3:53 a.m., after Riverside County emergency dispatchers were notified the incident.
“Deputies arrived on scene within minutes and found a male laying on the roadway,” Riverside Sheriff’s Sergeant Bill Davis explained in a written press release after the deadly incident.
Cal Fire/Riverside County firefighter/paramedics attempted to provide life-saving measures to the victim; however Ibarra succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Members from the Jurupa Valley Station’s Traffic Division responded to the scene and assumed control of the investigation.
During their investigation, Traffic Team members called for the temporary closure of Armstrong Road in both directions, between Sierra Avenue and 34th Street. The road remained closed for about eight hours while officials conducted their investigation and reportedly re-opened about noon.
Officials have not provided any information about how or why Ibarra fell from the moving vehicle. Their investigation is active and ongoing.
