HEMET: Probationer stopped while riding bike arrested, gun found nearby
HEMET — Authorities arrested a known gang member and probationer who was under the influence, Tuesday, Sept. 19. The arrest happened after officers made contact with the man, who had been riding a bicycle, on Gilbert Street between W. Florida and W. Acacia Avenues in Hemet.
After stopping the man shortly after 4:30 p.m., City of Hemet Gang Task Force members identified him as 22-year-old, Travon Tyndale and they determined that he was on county probation for a prior resisting arrest charge.
While speaking with Tyndale, GTF members located a stainless steel, semi-automatic handgun near the man; however, officials were unable to immediately tie Tyndale to the handgun, pending further investigation.
An online jail record search revealed Tyndale was booked into the Cois Byrd Detention Center in Murrieta on suspicion of being under the influence of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor. He was released from custody a few hours later with a citation to appear in court. He is scheduled to be arraigned at the Southwest Justice Center, Nov. 9.
