CORONA: Officials seek man they say exposed himself to Corona High student
CORONA — After spending several weeks trying to identify a man wanted for questioning regarding an indecent exposure investigation, City of Corona police officials have reached out to area residents for the public’s help identifying and locating the man they allege exposed himself to a girl walking home from Corona High School. The alleged incident happened Friday, Sept. 8, less than one mile from the front of the school.
The investigation began about 3:10 p.m., when Corona police officers were notified about an adult male who allegedly stopped his car next to a girl who was walking along Via Santiago near Sapphire Lane.
During their investigation, officers learned the suspect “stopped at the curb next to the student, lowered the front passenger window and asked her if she knew where Corona High School was located,” according to a Sept. 21 social media press release from department officials.
“The victim then noticed the suspect was exposing himself while seated in the car,” officials explained, saying the victim ran from the location and called 911 to report the incident.
The suspect vehicle was last seen driving eastbound on Via Santiago.
The victim described the man as Hispanic, about 5’08”, weighing about 180 pounds, with brown eyes and groomed/styled brown hair. He had a short, trimmed beard at the time of the incident.
The car the man was driving was described as dark grey and was possibly either a Nissan Altima or a Toyota Camry.
The victim told officers she believed she has seen the suspect driving in the same area before.
Officers converged on the area and searched the surrounding streets and neighborhood; however, they were not successful in locating or identifying the alleged suspect that day or in the weeks since the incident happened, leading officials to seek help from area residents.
Anyone with information about the identity or location of the alleged suspect is urged to contact Sr. Detective Andy Bryant at (951) 736-2420. Callers can remain anonymous.
