TEMECULA: City invites community to join annual “Patriotic Salute to Veterans”
TEMECULA ─ City of Temecula officials are inviting all active-duty and veteran military personnel as well as the entire community to come out for an evening of food, entertainment and fun at the City’s annual Patriotic Salute to Veterans.
The event is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 11, at the Temecula Civic Center, at 41000 Main Street in Temecula. The event will begin with a free picnic dinner that will be served from 5 until 6 p.m., on the grass of Town Square Park to the first 500 people to join the fun.
According to city officials, this year’s annual event will feature speeches by local dignitaries, the presentation of military colors to recognize active military personnel from the City’s Military Banner Program and a 90-minute concert under the stars – described as a patriotic salute to veterans – presented by the Temecula Valley Symphony, featuring Musical Director and Conductor John Mario and guest vocalist, Emily Chelsea. The vocal group Resonate will also be performing the National Anthem.
Bring your entire family, your friends, lawn chairs and warm blankets to enjoy a wonderful evening under the stars at this free Veterans Day event.

Trevor Montgomery, who recently moved from Riverside County to Shasta County, runs Riverside County News Source and Shasta County News Source. Trevor spent 10 years in the U.S. Army as an Orthopedic Specialist before joining the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department in 1998. He was medically retired after losing his leg, breaking his back and suffering both spinal cord and brain injuries in an off-duty accident.
During his time with the sheriff’s department, Trevor worked at several different stations, including Robert Presley Detention Center, Southwest Station in Temecula, Hemet/Valle Vista Station, Ben Clark Public Safety Training Center and Lake Elsinore Station, along with other locations.
Trevor’s assignments included Corrections, Patrol, DUI Enforcement, Boat and Personal Water-Craft based Lake Patrol, Off-Road Vehicle Enforcement, Problem Oriented Policing Team and Personnel/Background Investigations. He finished his career while working as a Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Investigator and was a court-designated expert in child abuse and child sex-related crimes.
Trevor has been married for more than 27 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and has 13 children and 14 grandchildren.
