SAN JACINTO: Two arrested after “long running” feud leads to shooting, stand-off
SAN JACINTO — Authorities arrested two men for attempted murder after a “long running” feud led to a shooting and two hour long stand-off with sheriff’s deputies who were investigating the incident, Saturday afternoon, Oct. 14. The shooting and stand-off happened in the 300 block of San Jacinto Avenue in San Jacinto.
After the stand-off, deputies arrested Daniel Sanchez Bambo, 35, and Edward Sanchez Bambo, 43. Both men are residents of San Jacinto. The two were later booked into the Cois Byrd Detention Center in Murrieta.
A press release indicated the two men were arrested for attempted murder; however, jail records indicated Daniel Sanchez was booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, battery and vandalism. Edward Sanchez was booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.
Deputies from the San Jacinto Police Station responded to reports of a shooting about 2:05 p.m., and arrived at the location within one minute of the call being dispatched, according to a press release from the department.
After being shot, friends drove the victim, who has not been identified, to an area hospital for treatment of a “non-life threatening” gunshot wound.
When deputies arrived at the residence where the shooting occurred, they attempted to contact the two alleged suspects. Despite deputies ordering the men to exit the residence they refused, leading to a standoff that lasted until about 4:30 p.m.
The two eventually exited the residence and “peacefully and surrendered to officers,” according to the release.
During a subsequent investigation, authorities determined “a long running argument between the victim and suspects resulted in gun fire,” according to officials.
Sheriff investigators served a search warrant at the residence. During the service of the search warrant, investigators recovered several firearms believed to be related to the incident.
The investigation into the alleged incident is active and ongoing.
