ANDERSON: Probationer arrested after search uncovers weapons, ammunition

ANDERSON — Sheriff and Probation Department officials arrested a probationer after they found him to be in possession of weapons and ammunition in violation of the terms of his probation, Tuesday, Oct. 31. The man was arrested at his residence on the 5700 block of Olive Street in Anderson.

Deputies from the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office and officers from the Shasta County Probation Department went to the home of William Jack Bushnell to conduct a probation search at 1:37 p.m., Shasta County Sheriff’s Sergeant Gonzalez explained in a written press release.

According to Superior Court records, Bushnell is on felony probation with a prior conviction for being armed while in possession of a controlled substance.

During the probation search, officials located and seized a 12 gauge Mossberg tactical shotgun and a Tec-22 pistol, according to Gonzalez. Officials also located “131 rounds of ammunition of varying calibers,” said Gonzalez.

After the search, officials  arrested Bushnell and he was later booked into the Shasta County Jail on suspicion of being a felon in possession of firearms and ammunition and violation of his probation terms.

An online jail records search revealed Bushnell remain in custody, held on $300,000 bail.
