REDDING: Woman arrested, man critically injured, after early morning bat attack
REDDING — Officials have arrested a woman they allege beat a man with a baseball bat, Tuesday morning, Nov. 21. The early morning bat attack, which left the victim in critical condition with bleeding on the brain, happened at the Oakwood Mobile Home Park on the 1000 block of Lake Boulevard in Redding, according to officials.
After an investigation, officers arrested Pasha Alona Bowers, 32, of Redding. She was arrested at 5:00 p.m., about twelve hours after the violent attack, and later booked into the Shasta County Jail in Redding on suspicion of attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated battery resulting in serious bodily injury and violation of probation.
The investigation began about 5:17 a.m., after Redding Police Officers were dispatched to the mobile home park after receiving a 911 call reporting a victim who had been struck multiple times in the face and head at the location by a woman armed with a baseball bat.
When officers arrived they found a man, later identified as Christopher Duran Slocum, 45, of Redding, “bleeding from wounds to his head and face,” according to a Redding PD social media release.
Medics rushed Slocum to Mercy Medical Center in Redding for evaluation and treatment.
“Slocum was determined to have sustained life-threatening injuries and required surgery to address a brain bleed,” said officials.
During their investigation, officials determined Bowers had struck Slocum in the head and face multiple times with a baseball bat. Officers later located Bowers walking near the scene, at which time they detained her for further investigation and questioning.
“Bowers later admitted to striking Slocum with a bat,” said officials, who said they located and recovered the bat Bowers used in Slocum’s attack.
Officials have not specified if there was a known motive for the attack.
At the time of Redding PD’s press release, Slocum was listed in stable condition.
An online jail records search revealed Bowers remains in custody and is being held without bail.
