Officers arrested the man, whose name and information have not yet been released, after a motorcycle officer conducted a traffic stop on a black Infiniti sedan just before 5 p.m.

After initiating the vehicle stop, City of Hemet emergency dispatchers advised the motor officer that the Infiniti had been reported stolen.

The solo motor officer immediately took cover and held the driver at gun point for several tense minutes, while waiting for additional officers to arrive and assist with taking the man into custody.

Patrol officers, Gang Task Force members, specials teams members and a patrol supervisor converged on the location and took the man into custody without incident.

During a subsequent search, officials discovered the man was in possession of “shaved” ignition and door keys, commonly used by auto-thieves to steal cars.

After his arrest, officers transported the man to Hemet PD’s jail, where he was booked on suspicion of possession of stolen property.
