RIVERSIDE: Mother and son pimping team arrested, face multiple felony charges

RIVERSIDE — A Riverside mother and her adult son were recently arrested during a pimping and prostitution investigation, said officials. During their investigation, detectives assigned to Riverside PD’s Vice Unit served a search warrant at the mother and son’s residence and seized items they said provided evidence of the pair’s illicit and illegal activities.

Mother and son, Angelene and Jordon Ashey, 48 and 26, were arrested during a pimping and pandering investigation.

After the service of the search warrant, officials arrested Angelene “Barbie” Ashley, 48, and Jordon Philip Ashley, 26. Both were booked into Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside “for pimping, pandering, and keeping a house of ill fame, more commonly known as a ‘brothel,'” Riverside PD’s Special Investigations Bureau Sergeant Chad Collopy explained after the arrests.

Jail inmate records indicated both alleged suspects were booked on suspicion of pimping and procuring a person for prostitution and that both were released within hours of their arrests after posting $25,000 bail each. The pair is scheduled to be arraigned at Riverside’s Hall of Justice, July 27.

The investigation began after Vice Unit detectives received information about “prostitution services being promoted within city limits on several advertising websites,” said Collopy.

As their investigation was getting underway, officers made contact with a woman who alleged she was being sexually exploited by the mother and son. Officials have not released the victim’s name.

“Based on this information, a search warrant was obtained for the suspects’ known residence,” Collopy explained yesterday. “On Friday, May 25, detectives served the search warrant at a house in the 3600 block of Snowdrift Drive, located in an unincorporated area of Riverside County near Home Gardens.”

Officials seized “evidence of the alleged crimes” at the residence and both Ashley’s were arrested, according to Collopy.

Vice Unit detectives believe there may be additional victims who have not yet come forward and are asking for additional information and looking for other potential victims.

Anyone with information regarding this investigation or the two suspects is encouraged to contact Riverside PD’s Special Investigations Bureau at (951) 353-7204. Callers can refer to incident file number P18081417 and can remain anonymous.
