HEMET: Officers praised for act of kindness after two-car injury collision
HEMET — The wife of one of two people injured in a traffic collision this morning is praising Hemet PD after one of their officers showed an unexpected and completely random act of kindness by delivering a car load of groceries to her after her husband was transported to an area hospital. The minor injury crash happened in the area of Florida Ave. and Cornell St.

In a social media post about her husband’s accident on Facebook’s Hemet News, Hemet resident Kimberly Castillo explained that even though her husband is “banged up and sore,” the officer’s home delivery helped soften the blow of the accident.
Saying, “Thank you so much for all you do,” Castillo explained she was surprised when the officer showed up at her home with the groceries her husband had just purchased and was on his way home with when the accident happened.
After reading Castillo’s post, dozens of area residents also praised Hemet PD and the unidentified officer’s actions.
Hemet resident Jane Holguin was one of many who responded to Castillo’s post, writing, “Love our police 
❤️❤️ they’re here to keep us safe. Such a sweet gesture!”
Countless others echoed Castillo and Holguin’s sentiments.
City of Hemet Police and Fire Departments, along with other emergency first responders, were dispatched to the scene of the accident about 8:50 a.m.
When officials arrived they located two cars involved in the crash. The vehicles were described as a black Honda Civic and silver Hyundai. The Honda sustained major front-end damage and the Hyundai had moderate driver’s side damage. Both cars’ airbags had deployed.
Both drivers and sole occupants of the cars were injured and both were transported by ground ambulance to Hemet Valley Hospital for treatment of their injuries.
Holguin later wrote, “Police Officers are human beings, sad so many don’t realize this and have so much hate for them. Thank you HPD for ALL you do for this community.”
Hemet PD is investigating the cause of the crash and their investigation is ongoing.

Trevor’s assignments included Corrections, Patrol, DUI Enforcement, Boat and Personal Water-Craft based Lake Patrol, Off-Road Vehicle Enforcement, Problem Oriented Policing Team and Personnel/Background Investigations. He finished his career while working as a Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Investigator and was a court-designated expert in child abuse and child sex-related crimes.
Trevor has been married for more than 27 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and has 13 children and 14 – soon to be 15 – grandchildren.
