Multi-vehicle Riverside crash causes SR-91 SigAlert, traffic delays

RIVERSIDE — Officials are at the scene of a multiple-vehicle crash that caused a SigAlert to be issued for the 91 Freeway, west of Arlington Ave. and near Madison St., in Riverside.

The SigAlert was initially issued for the eastbound lanes but was later updated to include the westbound lanes of travel. At 1:20 p.m., CHP’s incident log indicated the freeway would remain closed for an unknown duration.

CHP and other emergency personnel responded to the accident shortly after 1 p.m., after receiving reports of a three to four vehicle crash. 911 callers reported the wrecked vehicles were blocking the HOV and number one lanes.

When officials arrived they found a grey Mazda, grey Honda Civic, and unspecified sedan blocking the left two lanes of the eastbound lanes of travel. No further information about the fourth reported involved vehicle was available.

CHP’s incident log indicated there were multiple injuries at the scene, but have not specified the nature or extent of the victims’ injuries.

As of 1:50 p.m., CHP’s SigAlert remained in effect, and other than CHP’s incident log officials have not released any further information or details regarding their ongoing collision investigation.

Trevor’s assignments included Corrections, Patrol, DUI Enforcement, Boat and Personal Water-Craft based Lake Patrol, Off-Road Vehicle Enforcement, Problem Oriented Policing Team, and Personnel/Background Investigations. He finished his career while working as a Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Investigator and was a court-designated expert in child abuse and child sex-related crimes.

Trevor has been married for more than 28 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and his “fluid family” includes 13 children and 14 – but soon to be 16 – grandchildren.
