Emergency personnel were dispatched to the crash about 3:45 a.m., after receiving reports of a solo-vehicle traffic collision and fire.

When officials arrived they found a VW Beetle that was high-centered and stuck on the median and fully engulfed in flames.

Although firefighters worked quickly to put out the fire the car was consumed by the blaze and considered a total loss. The driver of the vehicle was able to escape without serious injuries.

Deputies assigned to Perris Police Station are handling the ongoing investigation into the crash and officials have not ruled out alcohol or drug intoxication as possible contributing factors in the fiery crash.
