JURUPA VALLEY — Two drivers escaped serious injury after a wrong way driver plowed head-on into another vehicle early Sunday morning, Nov. 11. The crash happened on the Van Buren Blvd on-ramp to the westbound 60 Freeway. According to CHP, DUI is suspected as a contributing factor in the crash.

CHP began receiving reports of a wrong way driver in a van traveling eastbound on the westbound side of Highway 60, near the I-15 interchange in Jurupa Valley, around 4 a.m.
Moments later, CHP received several additional calls reporting that the wrong way van had smashed head-on with another vehicle on the Van Buren on-ramp to SR-60.
When officials arrived at the scene they found two wrecked vehicles, described as a
silver Chevrolet Voyager van and dark-colored Toyota sedan, in the middle of the on-ramp. Vehicle parts and debris were scattered across the on-ramp. Both vehicles had sustained heavy front-end damage and were later towed from the scene.
Paramedics evaluated and treated both drivers, who were later transported by ground ambulances to an area hospital with injuries described as minor. CHP later credited seat belt use as the main reason the two drivers survived the tremendous crash.
According to an officer at the scene of the collision, alcohol and/or drug intoxication is suspected in the crash, but officials have not specified if the suspected drunk driver was arrested the morning of the wreck.
