At least one injured after vehicle plows into, shears, Nuevo power pole

NUEVO — At least one person was injured after a vehicle plowed into an Edison pole, shearing the pole and knocking down power lines in Nuevo, early this morning, Sunday, Dec. 16. The accident happened on the 30700 block of Montgomery Ave., between Nuevo Rd. and 11th St.

Despite citizen’s efforts, one confirmed killed in Hemet blaze

California Highway Patrol, Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire, and other emergency personnel, were first alerted to the solo-vehicle crash around 2 a.m., according to a CHP incident log. A 911 caller reported a male passenger from the vehicle, described as a blue SUV was injured and that power lines were down.

When officials arrived they confirmed a SoCal Edison power pole had been knocked down and destroyed but reported the downed pole was not blocking the roadway or impeding traffic.

Although a tow truck was summoned to the scene, officials determined the wrecked vehicle could not be moved until Edison employees removed the downed power lines. Edison later updated around 5:20 a.m., that the destroyed power pole and downed power lines would not be able to be removed for four to five hours.

No information about the driver or injured passenger was immediately available and CHP’s investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.

Trevor’s assignments included Corrections, Patrol, DUI Enforcement, Boat and Personal Water-Craft based Lake Patrol, Off-Road Vehicle Enforcement, Problem Oriented Policing Team, and Personnel/Background Investigations. He finished his career while working as a Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Investigator and was a court-designated expert in child abuse and child sex-related crimes.

Trevor has been married for more than 28 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and his “fluid family” includes 13 children and 15 – but soon to be 16 – grandchildren.
