One dead, one hospitalized after Jurupa Valley crash

JURUPA VALLEY — One person was killed and another hospitalized with minor injuries after a two-vehicle traffic collision in Jurupa Valley early Monday morning, March 23. The fatal crash happened on Sierra Ave. north of Karen Ln., according to officials investigating the cause of the crash.

Deputies from the Jurupa Valley Sheriff’s Station, along with Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire and other emergency personnel, were dispatched to the scene about 6:52 a.m., after receiving reports of a major collision involving two vehicles, Riverside Sheriff’s Sgt. Luke Torres later reported.

When officials arrived they found a male adult with major injuries in one of the involved vehicles. The man, who has not yet been publicly identified, passed away from his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene, according to Torres; who said there were no passengers in either vehicle.

The driver of the other vehicle was found unconscious and had to be extricated from his vehicle by fire personnel. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was treated for minor injuries.

Based on the circumstances, members of the Jurupa Valley Station’s Traffic Reconstruction Team responded to the scene and assumed the investigation.

Although deputies are still working to determine the cause of the collision, Torres said neither alcohol or drug intoxication are believed to have been factors in the deadly crash.

He finished his career while working as a Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Investigator and was a court-designated expert in child abuse and child sex-related crimes.

Trevor has been married for more than 29 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and his “fluid family” includes 13 children and 16 grandchildren.
