Prayer vigil and rally for missing Pit River Tribal member Nick Patterson to be held today

SHASTA COUNTY, Calif. — Concerned family and friends who have been searching for missing Pit River Tribal member Nick Patterson, 26, who has been missing since January, 2020, are holding a prayer vigil and rally for the missing man today, Saturday March 20. The rally is scheduled to go from 3 p.m. until sunset.

Today’s prayer vigil and rally, which is being held at the US District Court in Redding, is scheduled to be attended by Patterson’s immediate family members, as well as Pit River, Redding Rancheria and Northern California Tribal leaders and members, community leaders, Missing & Murdered Indigenous Relatives (MMIR) advocates and allies, and others.

Speakers at today’s rally will include Chairman Jack Potter of Redding Rancheria; Lynette Craig, Nick’s Mom; Laura Seal, Nick’s Grandmother; family members and MMIR advocates.

Patterson has been missing for more than 15 months and family members have had no contact with him since Jan. 4th of last year, which they say is not normal behavior for the missing man.

The last confirmed sighting of Patterson was in the Hat Creek area Jan. 5, 2020.

Trevor Montgomery, 49, moved in 2017 to the Intermountain area of Shasta County from Riverside County and runs Riverside County News Source (RCNS) and Shasta County News Source (SCNS).

During his time with the sheriff’s department, Trevor worked at several different stations; including Robert Presley Detention Center, Southwest Station in Temecula, Hemet/Valle Vista Station, Ben Clark Public Safety Training Center, and Lake Elsinore Station; along with other locations.

Trevor’s assignments included Corrections, Patrol, DUI Enforcement, Boat and Personal Water-Craft based Lake Patrol, Off-Road Vehicle Enforcement, Problem Oriented Policing Team, and Personnel/Background Investigations. He finished his career while working as a Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Investigator and was a court-designated expert in child abuse and child sex-related crimes.

Trevor has been married for more than 30 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and his “fluid family” includes 13 children and 18 grandchildren.
