Medical crisis led to crash that killed elderly Canyon Lake man
CANYON LAKE, Calif. — Authorities say a medical crisis led to a deadly collision that preceded the death of an elderly man in the gated community of Canyon Lake Friday evening, April 16.
The accident, which involved a sedan that crashed into several parked vehicles and homes, happened on Canyon Lake Dr. North and Sloop Drive, according to officials.

Deputies from the Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s Station, along with Cal Fire-Riverside and other emergency personnel were dispatched to the residential neighborhood around 6:58 p.m. after receiving reports of a single-vehicle traffic collision involving vehicle that had crashed into several cars and homes.
Officials began arriving within minutes of the dispatched call and located a silver sedan that had crashed.

Fire personnel found the critically injured victim unconscious and trapped inside his wrecked vehicle and used the Jaws of Life to extricate the man from his sedan.
“Cal Fire was able to remove the individual who was transported to the hospital with major injuries,” Riverside County Sheriff’s officials have since reported.
The Lake Elsinore Traffic Collision Reconstruction Team responded to the scene and assumed the investigation.
“Preliminary investigation revealed the injured driver was traveling east on Canyon Lake Dr. and Sloop Dr. at a high rate of speed,” Sheriff’s officials explained; adding, “The driver suffered an apparent medical emergency, and his vehicle left the roadway, colliding with the parked vehicles and residences.”
Transported to Inland Valley Hospital, the victim later passed away.

Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner officials have since identified Leroy Jensen, 75, of Canyon Lake, as the man who passed away after the accident. A coroner’s release indicated Leroy was pronounced deceased at 12:07 a.m.
The Sheriff’s investigation is ongoing.

He finished his career while working as a Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Investigator and was a court-designated expert in child abuse and child sex-related crimes.
Trevor has been married for more than 30 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and his “fluid family” includes 13 children and 18 grandchildren.
