Two hospitalized after Happy Valley shooting – Investigation continuing

HAPPY VALLEY, Calif. — Officials are continuing to investigate a shooting that occurred at a Happy Valley residence early Sunday morning, May 16.

Although officials served a search warrant where the shooting was confirmed to have occurred, in the 6000 block of Lu Lu Lane, no arrests were made and officials are continuing their ongoing investigation.

At around 5:30 a.m., deputies with the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office were notified that two shooting victims had been brought to a local hospital with non-life-threatening wounds, Shasta County Sheriff’s Sergeant Jose Gonzalez later said of the incident.

During their investigation, deputies learned that the victims had been involved in a confrontation with the alleged suspects in downtown Redding earlier in the morning.

The victims later went to the Lu Lu Lane residence to confront the subjects involved in the earlier incident, at which time “the confrontation escalated, leading to the shooting,” said Gonzalez.

“Deputies responded to … the Lu Lu Lane residence and found evidence to corroborate … the victim’s statements,” Gonzalez said; adding, “Deputies later located the victim’s car, which had several bullet holes in it.”

The home’s occupants were “uncooperative and belligerent” toward deputies, causing officials to obtain a search warrant for the residence and property.

Due to the occupants’ “hostile demeanor”, the nature of the reported incident, “and the possibility of an armed confrontation”, Sheriff’s SWAT members responded to the home to assist with serving the search warrant.

A total of thirteen people were located and detained inside the home without incident. All were questioned about the shooting and the scene was searched for evidence, according to Gonzalez; who did not specify what, if anything, was discovered by deputies who searched the location.

The Sheriff’s investigation is continuing and anyone with information regarding this shooting is encouraged to contact the Sheriff’s Office at (530) 245-6025.
