Machete-wielding burglar arrested after confronting Riverside family inside home
RIVERSIDE, Calif. — “Imagine coming home from a long day at work to find your car door open, sliding glass door smashed to pieces, and finding the inside of your home disheveled,” Riverside Police Department wrote after a burglary and vandalism arrest earlier this week.
“This past Monday, one family not only came home to this, but the suspect was still inside with a machete,” officials continued.

City of Riverside police officers were dispatched to the private residence around 1:30 p.m. after the homeowners called 911 and reported finding an unknown woman inside their home.
The 911 callers told emergency dispatchers the suspect inside their home was armed with a machete and had caused damage inside the residence.
When officers arrived they contacted and detained Raquel Guerrero, 37, of Moreno Valley. Based on their subsequent investigation, officers arrested Guerrero and she was later booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside on suspicion of felony vandalism and residential burglary.
Online jail records indicate Guerrero remains in custody in lieu of $35,000 bail or bond.
“We would like to take this opportunity to remind everyone to always lock your windows, doors, and vehicles,” RPD later said. “We understand this may not always stop a crime, but it may deter a suspect from making entry.”
