CORONA, Calif., — A couple who was shot inside a City of Corona Regal Edwards 18 movie theater inside Crossings at Corona Monday night have been identified and Corona Police Department detectives and Riverside County Sheriff’s Department Major Crimes Bureau – Forensic Services personnel have completed processing the crime scene at the location.

Although officials say detectives recovered items of evidentiary value inside the theater, they did not locate a firearm and are continuing to search for leads and information that could help them solve what they have referred to as a “heinous” crime.

The female victim, who succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene, has been identified as Rylee Goodrich, 18, of Corona. A coroner’s release indicated she was pronounced deceased at 12:09 a.m.

The critically injured male victim, who was transported to a local hospital and remains on life support, has been identified as Anthony Barajas, 19, of Corona.

Officials have said that evidence and witness statements indicated both victims had come to the theater together and were inside the location watching the 9:35 p.m. showing of The Forever Purge, about a 12-hour window of time when all crimes are deemed legal; and the chaos, pandemonium and death that ensue each year.

Although movie theater representatives have since confirmed that only six tickets had been sold for that evening’s showing, it could not be immediately determined if someone had walked into that movie from another one of the location’s 18 theaters.

“Detectives are continuing to conducting follow up on all investigative leads with hopes of identifying the person(s) responsible for this heinous crime,” said officials; adding, “The Corona Police Department is asking for help from anyone who was inside the theater, in another movie theater, or in the shopping center between 9 p.m. and 11:45 p.m.”

CORONA, Calif., — Authorities say they are continuing today to investigate a double shooting at a movie theater located in Crossings at Corona that left an 18-year-old woman dead and a 19-year-old man critically injured and clinging to life last night, Monday, July 26.

The victims were found shot inside one of Regal Edwards 18 theaters that was showing the movie Forever Purge, about a 12-hour window of time when all crimes are deemed legal; and the chaos, pandemonium and death that ensue each year. Although only six tickets were sold for the evening’s 9:30 p.m. screening, police have since said they have no immediate leads and have not yet identified, located, or apprehended the shooter or shooters.

City of Corona police officers were dispatched to the theater, located at 2650 Tuscany Street, at around 11:45 p.m., after receiving reports of an unknown problem at the location, Sergeant Tobias Kouroubacalis reported from the scene of the still-active investigation today.

When officers arrived they discovered two shooting victims inside the theater.

One of the victims, so far only identified as an 18 year-old Corona woman, succumbed to her injuries inside the theater and passed away. Her name has not ben released, pending notification of her family.

The other victim, a 19-year-old Corona man, was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. Various reports indicate he remains in critical condition.

Although movie theater representatives later confirmed that only six tickets had been sold for that evening’s Forever Purge showing, it could not be immediately determined if someone had walked into that movie from another one of the location’s 18 theaters.

“We are not actively searching for anybody right now and we have no information on who the suspect is at this point,” Kouroubacalis said from the scene; adding that officers had not located the weapon used in the shooting.

Gloria Jennifer Castro, who was in another part of the theater with her brother and 11-year-old son watching the latest in the ongoing Fast and Furious saga when she the movie suddenly stopped.

“They told us to leave. There was an emergency, just leave fast,” Castro later told NBC Los Angeles after sharing a social media post showing her and her family members quickly leaving the theater as officers swarmed the area.

“It’s pretty scary, the fact we didn’t know nothing was going on,” she continued; adding, “Just scary.”

Moviegoers were later offered free tickets to come back and see another movie at a later time, but with officers still scouring the scene as they searched the entire theater seat by seat and row by row, the theater remained closed today and it was not immediately known when it would be allowed to reopen.
