Perris man, 20, fatally shot in Moreno Valley neighborhood

MORENO VALLEY, Calif., — Authorities today are continuing to investigate a fatal shooting that happened in a Moreno Valley residential neighborhood Friday evening, Nov. 5.

No arrests have been made related to the man’s murder, which happened in the area of Elm Avenue and Clover Court, southeast of John F. Kennedy Drive and Heacock Street, according to officials.

Deputies from the Moreno Valley Sheriff’s Station were dispatched to the scene around 10 p.m. after receiving multiple reports of gunfire in the area, Riverside Sheriff’s Sergeant Steve Brosche has since reported.

When deputies arrived, they located an adult male who had been shot. Although deputies immediately began providing life saving measures, the victim succumbed to his injuries and passed away at the scene.

The victim has since been identified as Haitham Arranaga, a 20-year-old Perris resident.

Deputies secured the scene and investigators from the Central Homicide Unit and the Moreno Valley Station were notified and assumed the investigation.

The suspect(s) fled the area prior to deputies arrival and are currently outstanding, according to Brosche; who said investigation is active and ongoing.

Trevor’s assignments included Corrections, Patrol, DUI Enforcement, Boat and Personal Water-Craft based Lake Patrol, Off-Road Vehicle Enforcement, Problem Oriented Policing Team, and Personnel/Background Investigations. He finished his career while working as a Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Investigator and was a court-designated expert in child abuse and child sex-related crimes.

Trevor has been married for more than 30 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and his “fluid family” includes 13 children and 18 grandchildren.
