City of Riverside police officers were alerted to the shooting just before 10 p.m. after the City’s Public Safety Communications Center received a call from a man who told emergency dispatchers that he was being followed and shot at by two unknown males driving a black Volkswagen Jetta.
Two Riverside residents, Fabian Ceja, 37, and Allen Martinez Jr., 41, were arrested after a vehicle pursuit and foot chase that happened after a motorist reported the two men were chasing and shooting at him with a shotgun. Riverside PD photos
Two officers who were patrolling that area quickly located the Jetta and attempted to stop the car. However, the driver failed to stop and led the officers on a short vehicle pursuit.
As the car was coming to a stop in the area of Gramercy Place and La Sierra Avenue, the passenger exited the car and fled on foot while holding a shotgun, Riverside PD has since reported; saying, “Officers pursued the suspect and took him into custody a short distance away after he discarded the shotgun.”
During a subsequent search of the Jetta, officers located spent shell casings and other evidence that ultimately linked the two men to the reported shooting.
As a result of their investigation, officers arrested Fabian Jauregui Ceja, 37, and Allen Martinez Jr., 41, both of Riverside.
The two men were later booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, and multiple weapons & drugs violations, according to officials.
