Deputies from the Shasta Lake Sheriff’s Station were dispatched to a private residence around 9:08 p.m. after receiving the report of an altercation between two men with shots being fired into the air, Shasta County Sheriff’s Sergeant Garet Baldwin has since said of the incident and arrest.
The 911 caller, Adam Pearson, reported that an intoxicated man, later identified as Danny Joe Sliger, 68, of Shasta Lake, was firing a shotgun in the air in the front yard of a residence.

“Pearson reported Danny was involved in a verbal altercation with his adult son, Daniel Thomas Sliger, when he fired a shotgun in the air,” Baldwin explained. “Danny also pointed the gun at Daniel before going into his RV trailer parked on the property.”
“A few moments later, Danny exited his RV and fired more shots from a revolver and threatened Daniel and other subjects standing in the front yard of the adjacent residence,” the sergeant described. “Daniel and a friend who arrived on scene prior to deputies were able to take the firearms away from Danny and waited for deputies to arrive.”
When deputies arrived at the residence, they detained numerous subjects in the front yard of the home, including the alleged gunman, while they conducted their investigation.
“Deputies confirmed Danny was intoxicated, fired multiple shots in the air, and threatened multiple people on scene,” Baldwin went on to say; adding that multiple firearms and ammunition were found in Danny’s trailer and taken as evidence.
Officials have not specified what the original argument was about or what led to the subsequent shooting.

Online jail records indicate he remains in custody in lieu of $25,000 bail or bond.
