A California Highway Patrol Officer was shot during a traffic stop in Eureka according to Eureka Police Chief Andrew Mills.
During the traffic stop a suspect exited his car and opened fire on the Officer striking him.
The Officer returned fire fatally injuring the gunman. Passengers in the suspect’s vehicle were held at gunpoint by the Officer until Eureka Police Officers arrived on scene.
The Officer’s condition has not yet been reported.
