Suspect Arrested And Charged In Menifee Murder

Menifee, Calif.; On October 4, 2015, members of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Central Homicide Unit were assigned to investigate the murder of Moses Almaraz which occurred in the 27000 block of Washington Avenue, in the city of Menifee.
Almaraz was found lying in the middle of the roadway on Washington Avenue suffering from life-threatening injuries and he later succumbed to those injuries.
Through the course of their investigation, Homicide investigators followed a number of leads and ultimately identified the suspect responsible for Almaraz’ death as Ronny Mitchell Jr., a 47-year-old resident of Murrieta.
Based on evidence that was collected during their investigation, investigators of the Central Homicide Unit obtained an arrest warrant for Mitchell Jr.
On October 29, 2015, the Inland Regional Apprehension Team (IRAT), located and Mitchell Jr. in the city of West Covina. Without Mitchell Jr. having any idea he was being surveilled the Inland Regional Apprehension Team moved in and arrested Mitchell Jr. without incident.
Mitchell was brought back to Riverside County and he was later booked into the Southwest Detention Center for murder.

Menifee, Calif.; A man has died in the middle of a Menifee street this morning and his death is being investigated as a homicide.
On Sunday, October 4, 2015, at about 6:56 P.M. Cal Fire received the report of a man down in the 27000 block of Washington Avenue, in the city of Menifee.
Upon their arrival Cal Fire personnel located a male adult victim lying in the roadway suffering from obvious life-threatening injuries. Fire personnel immediately requested assistance from law enforcement and deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Menifee Police Station were dispatched to the scene.
The male victim was transported to a local hospital, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
The deputies initial investigation revealed the male adult had been the victim of foul play. Investigators from the Menifee Police Department. As such, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Central Homicide Unit responded and assumed the investigation.
At this time the victim’s name is being withheld pending confirmation of his identity and notification of next of kin.
