On Sunday, November 1, 2015, deputies from the Temecula Police station arrested two suspects for a number of felonies related to stolen property found inside their vehicle.

At about 3:55 a.m., deputies from the Riverside Sheriff’s Temecula Police Station, responded to the report of a suspicious persons call, located on Cala Carrasco, in the city of Temecula.

Witnesses who called 911 reportedly saw two male suspects acting very suspiciously and described to dispatchers that the suspects were checking several vehicle door handles and looking into the vehicles with a flashlight. Prior to deputies’ arrival, witnesses reported the two suspects left the area driving a white Toyota pickup with black racing stripes.

Responding deputies fanned out and quickly located the vehicle and conducted a vehicle stop. Upon contacting the driver of the truck, deputies observed the driver, later identified as Joseph Penhall, age 22, appeared to be under the influence of alcohol and was arrested for driving under the influence.

During the course of their investigation, deputies saw numerous random items of property in the bed of the truck. Upon further investigation, the deputies located identification on the property, which led them to three different victims of previously reported crimes. An undisclosed amount of stolen property was subsequently identified and returned to the victims.

Both Penhall, and his passenger, identified as Thomas Davies, age 23, were arrested for Vehicular Burglary, Receiving Stolen Property, Conspiracy To Commit A Felony, and Penhall had an added charge of Driving Under The INfluence Of Alcohol.
