MORENO VALLEY: Officials still seek information about October attempted kidnapping

MORENO VALLEY – Authorities are seeking the public’s help in locating a man wanted for kidnapping. The allegations stem from an incident that happened last October in the area of Hidden Springs Drive and Mountain View Road, west of Pigeon Pass Road in Moreno Valley.

Officials from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Moreno Valley Police station have identified the alleged suspect as 37-year-old, Alejandro Aguayo.

The investigation into the incident began on the evening of Oct. 13, when Aguayo allegedly grabbed and attempted to abduct a 25-year-old woman who was jogging on Hidden Springs Drive.

As the victim was jogging in the area, “she noticed she was being followed by a Hispanic male adult,” Riverside Sheriff’s Sergeant Mike Koehler explained in an October press release about the incident. Officials eventually identified the suspect as Aguayo.

“Aguayo later parked his vehicle and waited for the victim to jog to his location,” an official explained in an updated social media press release.

As the victim jogged towards Aguayo, he suddenly stepped out in front of her, grabbed her, and picked her up off the ground. Aguayo then carried the victim “for approximately 10 to 15 feet,” officials explained.

The victim fought back against the suspect, refusing to be taken without a struggle. As the suspect attempted to carry the victim toward his vehicle, she was able to escape and call 911.`

After the victim broke free from Aguayo’s grasp he got into to his vehicle, which was parked nearby, and fled from the area.

The victim was able to provide investigating deputies with the first four characters of the license plate of the vehicle Aguayo fled in. She reported the first four characters were either “5Z09” or “5709.”

Sheriff’s officials have described Aguayo as a 37-year-old Hispanic male, about 5’ 2” tall, 140 pounds, with short dark-colored hair and “facial stubble.”
