Hemet Hit and Run Leads to Drugs and Weapons Arrest

Hemet, Calif.; On November 7, Hemet Police officers arrested a suspect for numerous felony charges after he was involved in a hit and run traffic collision.

Matthew Luna, a 29-year-old resident of San Jacinto, arrested for multiple felonies after hit and run.

At about midnight, officers from the Hemet police Department responded to 121 E. Florida Ave, in the city of Hemet, regarding the report of a possible hit and run accident.

Witnesses provided a description of the vehicle to responding officers, who were able to quickly locate and stop the vehicle in the 200 block of N. Harvard.

Officers contacted the driver, later identified as Matthew Luna, a 29-year-old resident of San Jacinto, who admitted he had been involved in the hit and run traffic collision.

During their investigation, officers located a handgun with an illegally extended magazine, a shoulder holster, approximately 80 grams of marijuana, concentrated cannabis, and a large amount of cash.

According to the Hemet Police Department, Luna was arrested at the scene and later transported to the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility and booked for the following charges, possession/transportation of marijuana, possession/transportation of marijuana with intent to sell, felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a large capacity magazine and hit and run.
