Two people, including a 3-year-old girl, killed in rollover accident on Thanksgiving evening (Graphic Content Warning)

EASTVALE – A 3-year-old child and a woman died late Thursday evening, Nov. 26, in a devastating roll-over crash on the I-15 in the city of Eastvale.
At about 10:25 p.m., multiple callers to 911 reported a two car collision had occurred on the Southbound I-15, south of Cantu Galleano Ranch Road. Official reports listed the actual location as 250 ft. north of Bellegrave Avenue. Witnesses to the accident reported one of the vehicles involved in the collision had rolled over several times and the victims inside the car had suffered catastrophic injuries. One of the victims was reported to be a young girl.
Due to the severity and nature of the reported accident, numerous law enforcement officers from the California Highway Patrol and Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, as well as fire personnel from Cal Fire/ Riverside County Fire and paramedics from American Medical Response all responded to the reported traffic collision.
In a press release from Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire, April Newman wrote that in addition to the law enforcement agencies and paramedics that responded to the location, one engine company, one truck company and an overhead spotter all were dispatched to the scene of the accident.
According to Newman, the first arriving engine company confirmed a major, traffic collision had occurred at the location. The first firefighters on-scene also reported one of the vehicles had rolled over multiple times.
Emergency first responders also reported one adult female had already died at the scene. A press release from the Riverside County Coroner’s office identified the deceased female as Brittney Gambale, a 27-year-old resident of Fontana. The report listed Gambale’s time of death as 10:45 p.m.
Firefighters and paramedics provided medical treatment to the other victim inside the rolled-over vehicle. The victim, who was described as a 3-year-old girl, was transported to the Corona Regional Medical Center with major, traumatic injuries.
According to a coroner’s report the 3-year-old girl later succumbed to her injuries. The report identified the deceased child as Sarenana Mackenzee. The report also listed Mackenzee’s time of death as 11:04, approximately 40 minutes after the collision occurred. As of this report, it was unknown what the relationship between the two deceased was.
While the California Highway Patrol was conducting their investigation into the fatal accident, all South bound lanes of Interstate 15 were temporarily shut down. Traffic was eventually funneled into one lane, however the freeway was reportedly backed up for miles in both directions and the severe congestion lasted for several hours.
Officials from the California Highway Patrol have stated the cause of the accident is still under investigation.
