ORIGINAL STORY
Writers note: I am aware of this victim’s name and his connection to the valley, however I will not ever release a victim’s identification until official release from the coroner’s office or without permission from the family. In this case, I have chosen not to contact the family, due to the sensitive nature of their position within the community and the (non-criminal) nature of the victim’s death.
SAN JACINTO – On Sunday, Dec. 6, CAL FIRE/Riverside County Firefighters, California Highway Patrol officers and deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s San Jacinto and Hemet stations responded to the report of a major, single vehicle traffic collision on Esplanade Avenue, in San Jacinto.
Multiple 911 callers reported a vehicle had crashed in an embankment, adjacent to the roadway, 500 feet east of Villines and was on fire.
According to a press release from the Riverside County Fire Department, the sole occupant of the vehicle did not survive the crash and succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the accident.
The driver of the vehicle has only been identified as an adult male.
The family arrived on scene shortly following the reported crash and is aware of the victim’s condition and status.
A coroners press release confirmed the death of the driver at 4:40 a.m., however they have not yet identified the victim.

This is heartbreaking. Thank you Trevor, for your sensitivity and compassion for Andrews family. They are active members of our church and loved by many. We are praying as a congregation of believers in Jesus Christ for God’s comfort. They are not alone.
This case is still bothering me. I was contacted right when it was happening by someone who said he ran out of gas, called his mom, she was bringing gas to him. She saw the car in flames when she arrived. If this is true, it sounds like he busted a fuel line on top of the exhaust system making him think he was out of fuel, but then kept trying to start the car until the fuel ignited on the hot exhaust.
Actually, as I understand it, he ran into a pole or tree.
I heard he was on drugs.
