HEMET: Two arrested for Bariloche Lane murder

HEMET – Officials from Hemet Police Department have announced the arrests of two suspects in the Dec. 12 murder of 56-year-old, Mitchell Martin. The homicide occurred on Bariloche Lane, in the city of Hemet. Court records indicate robbery was possibly a motive in the murder.

Following a thorough and lengthy investigation, detectives from Hemet Police Department contacted Sandra Warner, a 22-year-old resident of Hemet, on Jan. 05. Warner was located in the 1200 block of Valencia Ave, in the city of Hemet, at approximately 7:03 p.m. Detectives interviewed Warner at length regarding her alleged involvement in the homicide.

According to Hemet Police officials, following investigative leads, detectives located Giovanni McMillan, a 23-year-old resident of Hemet, the next evening. McMillian was located in the 2200 block of West Esplanade Ave on Jan. 6, at approximately 6:21 p.m.

Following their investigation, detectives arrested McMillian for homicide with malice and murder committed during an attempted robbery.

Arrested for the Dec 12 murder of Mitchell Martin were Giovanni McMillian and Sandra Warner. Both suspects are residents of Hemet.

McMillian was booked into the Southwest Detention Center the following morning at 11:16 a.m. His bail has been set at $50,000

Warner was booked into jail at the same time for being a felon in possession of a firearm, accessory to murder and contempt of court. Her bail has been set at $5,000.

Both Warner and McMillian were scheduled to be in court this morning.

HEMET – The Riverside County Coroner’s Office has identified 56-year-old, Mitchell Martin as the person killed in yesterday’s homicide. Although no time of death was listed in the coroner’s report, the report indicated Martin’s body was discovered by Hemet Police officers at 11:09 a.m.

ORIGINAL STORY

HEMET – On Dec 12, officers from the Hemet Police Department discovered a homicide scene during a welfare check call.

According to a press release from the Hemet Police Department, at about 10:20 a.m., The officers responded to the 4000 block of Bariloche Lane to conduct a welfare check on a resident after someone had called 911 to report the resident’s front door was found open and he could not be located.

While checking inside the location, officers located a white male adult, who was deceased, inside the residence. The victim showed obvious signs of traumatic injuries. Based on evidence at the scene as well as the victim’s condition, the death was immediately believed to have been the result of a homicide.

Detectives from the Hemet Police Department were called to the location and they assumed the investigation, which is active and ongoing.

Bariloche Ln. is a small street, that is known to be in a quiet area, that rarely sees incidents like this other than in the papers and on social media. Several residents who live around the residence where this incident occurred later stated they never even realized something had happened on their street until they read about it on social media pages. Others said there was no way to miss all the activity, that lasted long into the evening.

The day following the reported incident Bariloche Ln. had returned to the normal quiet street it usually is. However, in spite of what should have been a somber day on the unassuming street, several neighbors complained about the increase in vehicle and pedestrian traffic; from those wanting to get a closer look at the residence where this tragic incident occurred.

Per the press release from the Hemet Police Department, as of this writing, the investigation is ongoing and there is no further information to release at this time.
