RIVERSIDE: Bicyclist struck and killed by motorist on Jurupa Ave.

RIVERSIDE – A motorist struck and killed a bicyclist in the city of Riverside on Sunday, Jan. 24, according to Riverside Police officials. The accident occurred on Jurupa Ave.
Emergency first responders from Riverside PD, Cal Fire and AMR responded to the fatal accident at about 7:25 p.m.
Upon arrival, officers and emergency personnel confirmed the bicyclist had succumbed to his injuries and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
A preliminary investigation by officers determined a motorist was driving a 1994 Ford Ranger Eastbound on Jurupa Ave., by a 48-year-old Riverside resident. According to witnesses to the fatal accident, the bicyclist, who has only been identified as an adult male, was riding Northbound on Meadowbrook Ln. when he suddenly rode into the intersection of Jurupa Ave. The motorist was unable to stop his truck in time and struck the bicyclist.
The Riverside Police Department Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) responded and conducted a thorough investigation into the tragic collision.
The victim’s name has not been released, pending notification of his family. As of this report, it had not been determined if drugs or alcohol were factors in this incident.
