Riverside Police arrest woman accused of trying to cash stolen check and other charges
Genevieve Sevilla was arrested by Riverside Police officers on Mar. 7, after attempting to cash a stolen check.
RIVERSIDE – Officers from the Riverside Police Department arrested a woman accused of attempting to cash a stolen check on Monday, Mar. 7. Following an investigation, she was booked into county jail for four felony and two misdemeanor charges. She was released from jail a few hours later.
At about 12:30 p.m., officers responded to the 3400 Block of Central Avenue regarding a subject who was reportedly attempting to cash a check that had been reported stolen. Officers arrived and detained the subject, identified as Genevieve Sevilla, 27, of Bloomington, without incident.
Officers conducted an investigation that revealed the Sevilla had arrived at the bank with another unidentified subject and attempted to cash a stolen check. The theft of the check had been reported in an earlier vehicle burglary, according to Riverside Police officials.
During their investigation, officers also discovered Sevilla was in possession of methamphetamine.
Officers arrested Sevilla and transported her to the Robert Presley Detention Center where she was booked for attempting to pass a forged or fictitious check, conspiracy to commit a felony, 2nd degree burglary and false impersonation, all felonies; as well as possession of stolen property and possession of methamphetamine, both misdemeanors.
Sevilla was released within hours of being booked into jail. She is scheduled to be arraigned at the Riverside Hall Of Justice on May 30.
