Christina Marie Burke, 26, of Redding, was arrested on March 20 by Redding Police Officers. According to officials, this was Burke’s 5th arrest this year.

REDDING – Redding Police officers arrested a woman who one Redding Police official classified as a “prolific thief,” after she allegedly committed a commercial burglary on March 20. The arrest occurred after an alert business owner realized an office shared in the same building as his was being burglarized, according to Redding Police Sergeant Ron Icely.

In a press release from the Redding Police Department, Icely explained the woman allegedly involved in the burglary has already been arrested by Redding Police five times this year, for a variety of different crimes.

At about 9:10 a.m., the Shasta Area Safety Communications Agency (SHASCOM) received a call from a business owner in the area of 3302 Churn Creek Road regarding a commercial burglary in progress at the location.

“The business owner discovered that power was out in a building he shared with a Farmers Insurance agent,” Icely explained. “While inspecting the building, he found a window had been broken out and a subject was inside with a flashlight.”

The witness who had called 911 told emergency communication’s dispatchers that a white, female adult exited the building and fled northbound away from the business, on Churn Creek Road. The witness provided a description of the suspect to emergency dispatchers and responding officers.

Redding Police officers arrived within minutes of receiving the dispatched call and detained the subject who had been seen burglarizing the insurance office. Officers identified the woman as Christina Marie Burke, 26, of Redding.

During their investigation, officers found Burke was in possession of stolen property that she had just taken during the commercial burglary. Further investigation revealed that to facilitate her alleged criminal activity, Burke had reportedly turned power to the business off, using an unsecured electrical breaker box.

“Burke’s prior arrests include vehicle burglary, possession of stolen property, grand theft, and violation of probation. She can be characterized as a prolific thief who generally targets unoccupied vehicles in the area of Hilltop Drive and Churn Creek Road,” Icely wrote about Burke’s criminal background and the danger she represents to the community she resides in. “Although she has numerous pending criminal cases, she continues to victimize vehicle owners as well as business owners.”

Burke is being held at the Shasta County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail.

“The Redding Police Department encourages the general public to always secure their vehicles when unoccupied and to not leave valuables inside, Icely wrote. “During nighttime hours, attempt to park in well-lit areas and avoid leaving your vehicle overnight at closed businesses or parking structures.”

Anyone with information about Burke’s arrest or any other possible criminal-related activity she is involved with is encouraged to contact Sgt. Rob Icely or Officer Travis Williams at the Redding police Department at (530) 225-4200. Callers can refer to incident file number 16-19198 and can remain anonymous.
