RIVERSIDE: Intoxicated motorcyclist arrested after 120 mph pursuit
RIVERSIDE – Officers from Riverside Police Department arrested a man on Saturday, April 2, after he led officers on a high speed pursuit through the city of Riverside and onto the Interstate 91 freeway. The man, who was found to be under the influence, hit speeds in excess of 120 mph during the pursuit, according to police officials.
Patrol officers attempted to stop the motorcyclist at about 11:00 p.m., for minor vehicle code violations, in the area of Central Avenue and I-91. The attempted traffic stop was part of motorcycle safety awareness month.
When the officer activated his overhead lights, the motorcyclist refused to yield and fled the area at an excessively high rate of speed.
The pursuit lasted several minutes, according to police officials, and ended at Adams Street; where the suspect was taken into custody. Officers identified the alleged suspect as Jesse Dillion Nelson, 30, of Riverside.
During their investigation, officers observed that Nelson showed signs of impairment and conducted a DUI investigation. Officers determined Nelson was under the influence and he was arrested for evading police and driving under the influence. Officers towed and impounded Nelson’s motorcycle.
Officers transported Nelson to the Robert Presley Detention Center where he was booked into jail on his charges.
A jail records search showed Nelson was released the following day after posting $100,000 bail. He is scheduled for arraignment at the Riverside Hall of Justice on June 8, at 7:30 a.m.
