HEMET: Victim injured after vehicle goes over side of Hwy 74 near Bee Canyon
HEMET – The report of a car going over the side of the roadway on Highway 74 in the area of Bee Canyon brought emergency first responders rushing to the scene Thursday, April 7. Due to darkness in the remote area, emergency personnel were initially unable to locate the vehicle or it’s passenger, according to a fire official.
California Highway Patrol officers, Riverside County Sheriff’s deputies and CAL FIRE/Riverside County firefighters responded to the area, located in the unincorporated County area of Hemet, just after 11:30 p.m.
Emergency first responders scoured the area attempting to locate the vehicle, which they were initially unable to find, April Newman, public information officer for CAL FIRE wrote in a press release about the incident.
About an one and a half hours after the initial report, firefighters located the vehicle about fifteen feet over the side of the road on a steep hillside. The victim was trapped inside their vehicle and firefighters had to extricate the person.
Paramedics treated the victim, who has not been identified, before they transported the subject by ambulance to an area hospital. The victim reportedly suffered minor injuries.
