Urgent need to use bathroom leads to rollover accident near Bonsall
BONSALL – A man needing to use the bathroom became so distracted by his urgent need, he was involved in a single-vehicle rollover traffic accident, according to information provided on a California Highway Patrol incident log. The rollover collision occurred in the 11100 block of Old Castle Road in an unincorporated area between Bonsall and Valley Center.
One person, described only as a Hispanic male adult, was reportedly pulled from the vehicle and at least one other subject may have either been thrown from the vehicle or walked away from the accident, prompting a ground and air search of the area.
The CHP incident log revealed the accident was first reported to CHP emergency communications dispatchers at 9:41 p.m.
Bystanders and witnesses reportedly helped pull one man from the wrecked vehicle, who was initially trapped inside the car that ended up resting on its roof after the rollover. The vehicle was described as a four-door sedan.
It was not immediately known how many people were in the car when it overturned, however “Astrea,” of the San Diego Sheriff’s Aviation Unit was called to the scene to assist in searching the area for an unidentified person.
Deputies and sheriff’s aviation personnel searched the entire area, including a specific home near where the accident occurred. No information was available regarding the status of the driver or second person.
At 11:29 p.m., while paramedics were treating the victim who was pulled from the wrecked sedan, a CHP officer notified dispatch and CHP supervisors regarding a tazer deployment, in the area of Rolling Hills Drive near Old Castle Road. The officer notified dispatchers the Tazer deployment either missed the subject or was not effective.
As of this report, it was unknown what the Tazer deployment was related to or if it was directly related to this incident, although the location of the street where the deployment occurred is about 2000 feet from the residence where deputies and Aviation Unit personnel searched for the person from the vehicle.
The vehicle involved in the rollover collision was eventually righted back onto it’s wheels and it was towed to a facility in Valley Center
