Minor traffic violation in Hemet yields more than 10 pounds of marijuana

Anthony Bracamonte was arrested while in possession of more than 10 pounds of marijuana.

HEMET – A traffic enforcement stop in Hemet on Friday, April 22, for a “minor vehicle code violation” led to officers arresting two men for narcotics related charges, according to a Hemet Police official. The Hemet Police officer conducted the traffic stop in the 400 block of E. Johnston Avenue at 11:16 a.m.

After the officer conducted the traffic stop, he made contact with two occupants from inside the vehicle. The officer had City of Hemet emergency communications dispatchers conduct a records check on the two subjects that revealed the driver had a felony warrant for his arrest.

Based on the warrant, the officer arrested the driver, who was identified as Anthony Bracamonte, of Sacramento. The passenger from the vehicle was identified as David Munoz Jr, of Grass Valley.

During a search of the vehicle after Bracamonte’s arrest the officer discovered “over ten pounds of marijuana, that was packaged for sales,” as well as “all the necessary equipment for honey oil production,” according Hemet officials. The officer also located a large amount of US currency inside the vehicle. The investigating officer documented and seized the narcotics and money, which was later entered into evidence.

Based on the recovered narcotics and money, both Bracamonte and Munoz were booked at the Hemet PD Jail and later transported to the Southwest Detention Center.

A jail records search conducted at 10:30 p.m., showed both alleged suspects were still in the process of being booked in county jail.

However, as press release from Hemet PD indicated both men were booked for possession and manufacturing marijuana for sale. The press release also indicated Bracamonte was being held without bail and Munoz was being held in lieu of $50,000 bail.
