Vehicle vs big-rig accident on I-10 injures 3 in Beaumont
BEAUMONT – An early morning accident involving a big-rig tractor-trailer semi-truck and a four-door hatchback injured three people from inside the hatchback. The collision occurred on the I-10 freeway, near the Oak Valley Parkway overpass.
Traffic was reportedly backed up and moving at a crawl; as crews worked to free the victims from the wrecked hatchback and clean up debris scattered across the freeway.
The accident was first reported to California Highway Patrol emergency communications dispatchers at 12:09 a.m. One or more 911 callers reported that debris was spread across the entire roadway.
CHP officers and other emergency first responders rushed to the location and found the two vehicles and began working to provide medical attention to the three injured victims from the hatchback.
Within minutes of their arrival, officers called for the shut down of some of the lanes of traffic, to ensure the safety of emergency crews assisting those injured in the accident.
No information was available about those injured in the accident, however three victims were reportedly treated at the scene by firefighters and paramedics at the scene.
Paramedics reportedly transported all three victims – including one who was reported to have sustained critical injuries in the accident – to a local hospital via ground ambulance. The other two victims reportedly suffered minor injuries.
