Woman arrested in Riverside after attempted residential burglary
Sheri Alghriafy was arrested in Riverside after allegedly attempting to burglarize an occupied residence.
RIVERSIDE – A resident of Riverside was arrested Monday, April 25, after allegedly attempting to burglarize what she believed to be an unoccupied residence. The suspect allegedly fled from the residence at high speed when she realized someone was home at the residence.
The alleged suspect, identified as Sheri Leigh Alghriafy, 46, of Riverside, was arrested and booked into jail following the attempted burglary.
Riverside Police officers responded to a call in the 11300 Block of Ainsley Avenue at about 1 p.m., after City of Riverside emergency communications dispatchers received a 911 call about a residential burglary in progress.
The caller told dispatchers Alghriafy first backed a vehicle into their driveway, then entered the residence through an unlocked door. When she saw that the victim was inside the home calling 911, Alghriafy allegedly ran ran from the residence to her waiting vehicle and fled the area.
With assistance from Air-1, the department’s Air Support Unit, officers located Alghriafy fleeing from the residential neighborhood at a high rate of speed. According to officials, he was stopped and detained without incident near the area of Colorado Avenue and Adams Street.
Officers arrested Alghriafy after she was positively identified by the victim, according to officials.
A jail records search revealed Alghriafy was booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center for suspicion of attempted first degree residential burglary and possession of drug paraphernalia. She is being held in lieu of $35,000 and she is scheduled to be arraigned at the Riverside Hall of Justice on April 27.
